iOS 5

iOS 5

This was no ordinary Monday, people. History was made today. Geeks and gamers ’round the world had an e-boner all day and it started with Apple at their Worldwide Developers Conference 2011:

  • iCloud with 5 GB of storage is free for all with an Apple ID.
  • OS X Lion will be more iOS “like” and tons of new features, all for $30 coming next month.
  • Incoming iOS 5 this Fall cuts the cord on syncing & activating among other big UI updates.

Read all the details and view the keynote video at iTunes 10.3 should be arriving shortly.

As if that wasn’t enough, the bacon got piled on over at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2011, or just E3, which started today. Lots of deliciousness was announced today, and here were likely the most anticipated announcements so far:

  • Battlefield 3, October 25, 2011
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, November 8, 2011
  • Halo 4, Q4 2012
  • Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, November 2011
  • Need For Speed: The Run, November 2011
  • Far Cry 3, 2012
  • Mass Effect 3, Q1 2012
  • Minecraft, Q4 2011

These are just some of the more anticipated sequels on this, just day 1 of the expo, with 2 more days left to go. If interested, your best bet to follow what’s coming up in the next few days is to keep an eye on Joystiq’s coverage of the event.

Sony announced their NGP officially as “Vita” for $250 USD for WiFi & $300 for WiFi/3G. Also, a new 24″ 3D monitor bundle for PS3 priced at $500 USD also announced.

I’m sure tomorrow will bring even more announcements and surprises. Stay tuned.

PSN Welcome Back Program

PSN Welcome Back Program

Alright you mooches, time to put down that burger & Mountain Dew and get your leech on. So long as you had a PSN account prior to the outage, you get some free shit. That’s right, the PSN Store came alive late on the night of June 1st and now just in time for the weekend, some goodies to keep on your hard drive for the next hacking/outage. Don’t forget the complimentary one-year identity theft protection subscription Sony is offering in case even your mama won’t take back your bad credit ass.

Am I the only one that wishes that Sony would have granted vouchers instead of “pick 2 from this loser list of 5″? Most of us already have at least 1 or 2 of those titles offered already, so I guess I’d better make the best of inFAMOUS and Dead Nation. Would of been cool had they instead setup a voucher limit so people can choose what they wanted, be it games, DLC, or whatever, but it is something at the least.

UPDATE: Are you a PlayStation Home user? All 6 of you get 100 virtual items plus 2 spaces with a game (they have games there?) coming soon. Source.

Oh noes, can’t download or just having trouble with all this? They’re aware:

Due to high traffic on PlayStation Store, you may encounter error messages or issues. We advise you to check back a little later and try again.Note: In order to download two games at no cost, you must redeem them from the “Welcome Back” category. The individual titles are still available for purchase outside of the “Welcome Back Program”

If at any point you can’t find the ‘Welcome Back Free Game 1 or 2’ products, the list of available titles or a game you’ve selected, go to your XMB>PlayStation Network>Account Management>Transaction Management>Services List>SCEA Promotions to complete the process.

#PSN Store Might Be Up This Friday… With Hackers?

We Are Legion

Another PSN Hacking Eminent?

In the event you missed Sony’s press release on full restoration of the PSN by this week, a wall post on developer Gamelion’s Facebook may hint that this Friday is the target date:

Block Cascade Fusion is coming as Minis for PS3 and PSP to North America on 3rd June 2011!

However, will the restoration be met with yet another hacking attempt? Tune in later in the week and ready your single player games once again.

UPDATE: As of approximately 10 PM PST, PlayStation tweeted that the store is back up. It is very laggy and feels like there are still some server bugs as it is very slow and will return errors that you can just re-enter to view after an attempt or two.

#PSN Store To Return May 24?

May 20th, 2011 No comments

Again, somewhat affirming my original thought that the PSN hackings were not much more than those trying to get stuff free, the PSN was restored last weekend for online play however the real fruit of their tree, the PSN Store, still remained absent. I wonder why, eh?

A purported leaked memo from Sony to devs points that this coming Tuesday, May 24 is when we could expect to start buying shit again and I’d dare guess also take advantage of our 2 of 5 free game download “Welcome Back” package offer. Those games for North America once again are :

  • Dead Nation
  • inFAMOUS
  • LittleBigPlanet
  • Super Stardust HD
  • Wipeout HD + Fury

Yeah… that’s what I said too. Here’s the original deets from Sony on that.

#PS3 #PSN System Software Update; It’s Alive!

May 14th, 2011 No comments

This firmware update puts us all one step closer to playing online again. You will be required to change your password after installing 3.61 on your console first, however the network itself is still down as of now even after installing the firmware. Below is Sony’s post from their blog:

We have been working on a new PS3 system software update that requires all PSN users to change their password once PlayStation Network is restored. The update (v3.61) is mandatory and is available now.

If using a PS3, your password can only be changed on your own PS3 (or a PS3 on which your PSN account was activated), as an added layer of security. If you have never downloaded any content using your account on the system, an email will be sent to the registered sign-in ID (email address) associated with your account when you first attempt to sign-in to PSN. This e-mail will contain a link that will enable you to change your password. In this email, click on the link and follow the instructions to change your password. Once you have changed your password you can sign-in to your account using your new password.

We strongly recommend that all PSN account holders with PS3s update their systems to prepare for when PlayStation Network is back online. The release of this update is a critical step as we work to make PlayStation Network significantly more secure. Thank you for your continued support and patience.

Update: Regional restoration rolls out immediately. If you have downloaded 3.61 and successfully changed your PSN account password, you can game tonite.
